The International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation

The International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation is an annual global observance to raise awareness of the practice and work towards its elimination.

FGM International Intolerance Day was observed on the 6th February 2017 and provided the FGM Steering Group of the Southwark Safeguarding Children Board and Adults Board with the opportunity to raise awareness of FGM across all local agencies.

The day was supported by partners of the Board for both adults and children with special support from Africa Advocacy Foundation.

The day was a success and information booklets/leaflets, FGM Wooden Models as a visual aid to explain the different types of FGM, Bracelets, videos, Guidance documents and other educational information was shared with employees and visitors of the council.
